SD Galway maintained their strong finish to the season with a 2-0 win over Finn Harps in their final home game of the campaign at Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday night.

A pair of majestic free-kicks from Waterford United talisman Gary Dempsey ended Finn Harps’ ten-game unbeaten run as the Munster men kept their dreams of automatic promotion alive and kicking at Finn Park on Saturday night.

 Finn Harps toasted a tenth game unbeaten but a series of sloppy defensive errors, coupled with the failure to convert several gilt-edged chances, left the players feeling dejected as they boarded the team bus ahead of their lengthy journey home from Wexford on Friday night.

Finn Harps stretched their unbeaten run to nine games with their first win of the season against Athlone Town at Finn Park on Saturday night.

A game that rarely rose above average in the excitement stakes ended all square as Cian McBrien’s first goal for Mervue Utd cancelled out Paul McVeigh’s first half header as Finn Harps continued their unbeaten run and the home side ended a three game losing run.
