December 8th, 2009
Finn Harps Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Danny McGinley as voluntary Chief Executive Officer.
The Appointment was approved by the Board of Directors following the proposals for change outlined by the Review Committee Report, which were voted on by shareholders of Finn Harps Co-Operative Society Limited at an EGM in October.
Educated in Scotland with strong family roots in Donegal, Danny McGinley started his career as a training consultant working with small businesses to help them develop senior management training programmes. After two years he was approached to offshore one of the UK's largest banks to India working with a budget of £115 million and an excess of 2,000 staff. During this time Danny was also involved in the offshore and start up of PartyPoker.com in the UK, India and Gibraltar. His main talents is operations and assisting companies to develop strong structures and procedures to ensure smooth and dedicated internal and external customer service.
On return to Ireland Danny mentored various small companies in dealing with debt management and staff retention along with tutoring and teaching advanced information technology and business studies. Currently Danny is offering his services to Finn Harps on a volunteer basis to help us develop our structures and credit control process
Chairman Joey O'Leary believes McGinley's appointment signals a clear statement of intent from the Harps Board. “I am thrilled Danny has accepted the position as the first ever CEO of Finn Harps Football Club. To build the new Finn Harps we need to show the Business Community, the North West Public and Stakeholders that we are serious about moving the Club in a new positive direction. I believe that appointing someone of Danny's calibre and experience will help us do that.”
McGinley whose role begins with immediate effect is looking forward to taking on what he knows will be a big challenge. “I am aware of the size of the job ahead but I am looking forward to it. League of Ireland football has been through some rocky times but not many doubt that Finn Harps have always had huge potential. The New Stadium Project can offer the County a whole new Sporting and social dimension. We have a lot of work to do but thanks to the comprehensive report carried out by Review Committee we have an excellent roadmap to move forward with.”
